MT. MERU - 4 Days / 3 Nights
Day 1: Drive from Hotel to Arusha National Park to the Momela gate. After registration and payments start hiking through the forest and leaves the Ngare Nanyuki River. With our full armed rangers escorting us we can easily seen the wild animals including elephants, zebras, and giraffe among others. Emerge from the forest to the first hut known as Miriakamba takes about 4 hours hiking. Dinner and overnight at the hut.
Day 2: In the morning after breakfast the trail takes us the steep ascend with the view of the colobus monkeys, bush buck, velvet monkeys to the trees and the wildlife like African buffaloes. The hiking takes about 4 hours to the second hut know as Saddle Hut. After lunch we will climb the little Meru to the peak. Dinner and overnight at the hut.
Day 3: In the morning taking breakfast, preparation and rest for the mid night hiking. Lunch at Saddle Hut and in the morning of the next day about 1:00 a.m start to ascend to the top of Meru. Reaching to the top by dawn take some pictures before coming down for breakfast at Saddle hut. After breakfast descend further to Miriakamba hut with our picnic lunch boxes. Dinner and overnight at the hut.
Day 4: Wake up for a late breakfast around 9:00 a.m and thereafter start descend from Miriakamba hut to Momela gate where our vehicle will be waiting for a transfer to the hotel in Arusha city.
